Mattisson's Peptan® Type 2 Collagen Blend is designed to support healthy cartilage. Type 2 collagen is found in cartilage in joints, intervertebral discs, larynx, trachea, ribs and nose. Collagen fibers bind calcium salts, chondroitin and glucosamine and retain them in the tissues. Cartilage collagen contains amino acids such as hydroxyproline and oxylysine, which are essential for the formation of new collagen fibers in cartilage. This increases joint strength and ligament elasticity, and relieves pain during intense sports training or physiotherapy.

Collagen acts as a shock absorber in the human body. It can be produced intensively by the body, but only up to the age of 25, if the body has enough essential amino acids, vitamins and minerals.
