1. What is Gaviscon Strawberry Tablets and what is it used for?
Gaviscon Strawberry Tablets belongs to a group of medicines called "reflux suppressors", which form a protective layer on the surface of stomach contents to prevent stomach acid from flowing from the stomach into the esophagus, where it causes pain and discomfort. This medicine is used to treat symptoms of gastro-oesophageal reflux such as acid regurgitation, heartburn and indigestion associated with reflux, for example after eating or during pregnancy, or in patients with symptoms associated with reflux oesophagitis.
2. Before using Gaviscon Strawberry Tablets
Do not take this product: if you are allergic (hypersensitive) to any of the ingredients of Gaviscon Strawberry Tablets, as breathing difficulties and skin rashes are very rare (see information below for the full list of side effects). caution when using Gaviscon Strawberry Tablets: This medicinal product contains sodium (10.6 mmol per dose of 4 tablets) and calcium (3.2 mmol per dose of 4 tablets): If you have been advised to follow a strict restrictive diet regarding these salts, please consult your doctor before taking this product; If you suffer from serious kidney or heart disease, consult your doctor about the amount of these salts, as such salts can affect these diseases. If you suffer from phenylketonuria you should be aware that this medicinal product is sweetened with aspartame, a source of phenylalanine. Consult your doctor if you are known to have low levels of hydrochloric acid in your stomach, as the effectiveness of this medicinal product in these cases may be decreased. Taking other drugs: Do not take this medicinal product within 2 hours of taking other medicinal products by mouth, as it may affect the action of other medicinal products. Pregnancy and breast-feeding: This medicinal product can be administered during of pregnancy and breastfeeding. As with all drugs, the duration of treatment should be as short as possible.
3. How to take Gaviscon Strawberry Tablets:
For oral use. Chew the tablet well before swallowing. Adults, including the elderly and children over 12 years of age: At the onset of symptoms, take 2 to 4 tablets after meals and at bedtime. Children under 12 years of age: Use only on a doctor's recommendation. If you miss taking one dose, do not take a double dose the next time, but continue the usual intake of the medicinal product. If you have taken a larger amount of the medicinal product, you may feel bloating. This is unlikely to harm you, however, please consult your doctor or pharmacist. After taking Gaviscon Strawberry Tablets: If symptoms do not improve within seven days, consult your doctor.
4. Possible side effects:
Very rarely (less than 1 in 10,000) allergic reactions to excipients may occur. Symptoms may include skin rashes, itching, difficulty breathing, dizziness, or swelling of the face, lips, tongue, or throat. If any of these side effects become serious or if you notice reactions not described in this leaflet, stop taking it and consult your doctor immediately.
5. Storage of Gaviscon Strawberry Tablets:
Do not use Gaviscon Strawberry Tablets after the expiration date marked on the carton and blister. Store in a place inaccessible to children. Store at a temperature below 25 °C. 6. Additional informationGaviscon Strawberry Tablets are light pink, round tablets with beveled ends with a smell and taste of strawberry. The tablets are marked with a sword and a circle on one side and GS250 on the other side. Each chewable tablet contains: 250 mg sodium alginate, 133.5 mg sodium hydrogen carbonate and 80 mg calcium carbonate. The other ingredients are: mannitol (E421), macrogol 20,000, aspartame (E951), strawberry flavor (maltodextrin, modified starch (E1450), vegetable oil, propylene glycol (E1520)), red iron oxide (E172), xylitol, carmellose sodium, magnesium stearate. Tablets do not contain sugar and gluten Gaviscon Strawberry Tablets are available in the following packages: blister packs of 4, 6, 8, 16, 24, 32, 48 and 64 chewable tablets placed in a cardboard box. Not all types of packaging can be put on sale.
