The test is designed to qualitatively detect the following parameters in urine: • leukocytes • blood • nitrites • proteins These parameters help diagnose infections of the urethra, bladder, ureters and kidneys with symptoms such as burning during urination, frequent urination and cloudy urine. Why check for urinary tract infections? Urinary tract infections (UTIs) are a common condition in women, men and children. They can cause discomfort, pain and even lead to kidney complications if not treated promptly. Early diagnosis is key to effective treatment. One of the best ways to keep your urinary tract sterile is to completely empty your bladder at regular intervals. Usually the infection starts in the urethra and can then spread to the upper urinary tract to the kidneys. What is the test and what does it report? The test kit contains 2 reagent strips that analyze 4 parameters in urine: - Leukocytes: The presence of leukocytes in the urine is an important symptom of inflammation of the kidneys and urinary tract. - Blood: The presence of occult blood in the urine is most often the result of infections, kidney stones, trauma or tumors in the urinary system. - Nitrites: Nitrites are not found in urine under normal circumstances and their presence may indicate a bacterial urinary tract infection. - Protein: Protein in the urine (proteinuria) may be an indicator of bladder/prostate inflammation or urinary tract bleeding. Do not ignore these symptoms: • Burning sensation when urinating • Frequent urination • Cloudy or strong-smelling urine • Pain in the lower abdomen or back • Blood in the urine Instructions for use: Dip the strip in urine for 1–2 seconds, place on a clean surface and after 2 minutes compare the colors with the scale. To read the test results, place the test strip next to the color scale printed in the instructions for use and on the packaging. Compare the color of the reagent zones with the corresponding blocks on the color scale. Read each parameter separately. This test provides preliminary results.
