Heli-C-CHECK© is intended to be used as an aid in the detection of Helicobacter pylori infection. The most common cause of painful inflammation of the stomach lining with nausea and abdominal discomfort is the bacterium called Helicobacter pylori. Chronic inflammation of the stomach (gastritis) or ulcers can have further consequences. In addition, Helicobacter pylori can contribute to the development of diseases such as stomach ulcers and the progression of lymphoma. In developed countries, up to 50% of the adult population is infected with the bacterium Helicobacter pylori. The infection is often asymptomatic and can remain undetected for a long time. The bacterium colonizes the gastric mucosa and releases the enzyme urease. The stomach counteracts by increasing the production of gastric acid, which leads to a disruption of the acid balance (pH). Treatment consists of combination therapy with appropriate antibiotics and antacids prescribed by a doctor.
