Postmenopausal osteoporosis, osteoporosis associated with glucocorticoid treatment. Softening of the bones in adults (osteomalacia) due to inadequate absorption, for example in malabsorption and post-gastric resection syndrome. A significant reduction in the number of falls in elderly patients has been observed after taking ALFA D3. In patients with hypoparathyroidism or hypophosphatemic (vitamin D resistant) rickets/osteomalacia, additional therapy with ALFA D3 is indicated if the plasma calcium level is below 2.2 mmol/l. Conditions in which the 1-alpha hydroxylation process in the kidneys is impaired affect vitamin D metabolism, such as renal osteodystrophy with reduced calcium absorption and plasma calcium levels below 2.2 mmol/l (below 8.8 mg/100 ml), which may occur as a result of decreased renal function with or without dialysis treatment and in the early stages after kidney transplantation.
