Liposomal vitamin C is an improved form of the well-known vitamin, which is absorbed several times more efficiently by the body. Vitamin C, or ascorbic acid, is a water-soluble vitamin that can be found in fruits (especially citrus fruits) and vegetables. Ascorbic acid has many different functions in the body. It is an antioxidant with a positive effect on the immune system and for maintaining energy levels. Vitamin C helps with fatigue, contributes to normal psychological function, maintains bones and is important for blood vessels, skin and teeth. Vitamin C deficiency can lead to delayed wound healing, decreased immune response and entry of pathogens into the body.

Why the liposomal form is better than regular vitamin C

Liposomal vitamin C is better absorbed. This high absorption is achieved through liposomes - small spherical cells made up of fatty acids known as phospholipids. Liposomes have an inner compartment containing vitamin C, and an outer compartment made up of phospholipids, which act as a cell membrane. Phospholipids protect vitamin C from damage by stomach acid and liver enzymes and ensure high bioavailability of the vitamin, which easily enters the bloodstream. Thus, liposomes quickly pass through the digestive system, lymph and blood vessels. The human intestine has a physiological threshold for absorbing increased levels of vitamin C. Therefore, high doses of this vitamin can lead to unpleasant consequences, such as gas and/or diarrhea. Due to its increased bioavailability, liposomal vitamin C can be absorbed 2 times more than regular vitamin C, without causing negative effects in the body. Taking liposomal vitamin C can be considered an oral alternative to intravenous vitamin C. The product has a natural citrus flavor.
