Nordaid Vegan K2+D3 is a highly absorbable and convenient oral spray. Unlike capsules or tablets, the oral spray delivers vitamins through the oral mucosa directly into the bloodstream and the active substances begin to act much faster.
Vitamin D3 contributes to the normal function of the immune system and the maintenance of normal bones and teeth. Vitamin K2 contributes to the maintenance of normal bones and normal blood clotting. The product does not contain sugar. The vitamin D3 used in this formula is vegan cholecalciferol, obtained from lichen (Cladonia rangiferina). The spray also contains coconut oil and the antioxidant alpha-tocopherol.
What are the functions of vitamin D3 for human health?
This is a fat-soluble vitamin, part of which is obtained mainly from animal foods, and another part is synthesized in the skin under the influence of ultraviolet rays. Vitamin D is one of the determining factors for the state of the immune system. One of its key tasks for health is the management of calcium metabolism. The vitamin facilitates the absorption of calcium by increasing its concentration in the blood. It also stimulates the synthesis of osteocalcin - an enzyme that is created by osteoblast bone cells. Osteocalcin binds calcium and thus strengthens bones.
What is vitamin K2?
Vitamin K2, or menaquinone, belongs to the group of fat-soluble vitamins that are responsible for protein synthesis in the body. It is synthesized by bacteria and performs several functions at once: it is responsible for blood clotting, promotes heart and blood vessel health, regulates cell growth, improves brain function, reduces inflammation and insulin sensitivity.
Vitamin K2 provides:
control of blood clotting and stopping bleeding - due to the production and activation of coagulation factors and proteins in the liver, including the formation of active forms of thrombin and thromboplastin;
regulation of impaired calcification, prevention of bone fractures - through the production of osteocalcin by osteoblasts;
prevention of calcification of capillary walls and cartilage tissue;
prevention of venous thromboembolism, systemic lupus erythematosus, mesangial proliferative glomerulonephritis, chronic renal failure, preeclampsia;
connecting and attaching tissue cells to each other, as well as migration of epithelial cells, without which tissue formation during embryonic development, wound healing and influence on immune responses are impossible.
Why is it good to take vitamin D together with vitamin K?
Since both vitamins are needed for osteocalcin to function properly, taking them together will be better for strengthening bones and preventing fractures than taking vitamin D alone. Another reason is that vitamin K regulates the functioning of not only osteocalcin, but also a very similar protein found in the cells of the artery walls. If enough vitamin K binds to this enzyme, the protein prevents calcium from being deposited in the walls and valves of the arteries. Because loss of elasticity and hardening of the arteries is a risk factor for hypertension, taking vitamin D3 and vitamin K2 together may help reduce the risk of deadly cardiovascular events.
