1. What Troxevasin is and what it is used for
The active substance in the medicinal product Troxevasin is troxerutin. Troxerutin strengthens the walls of blood vessels (capillaries). It is used to relieve edema and symptoms associated with chronic venous insufficiency (fatigue, heaviness, swelling, pain and stiffness, numbness and tingling in the legs, pain after sclerotherapy or long travel), as well as to relieve pain and edema of traumatic origin such as sprains or muscle contusions.
2. What you need to know before you use Troxevasin
Do not use Troxevasin:
if you are allergic to the active substance or any of the other ingredients of Troxevasin listed in section 6.
Warnings and precautions
Troxevasin gel should not be applied to mucous membranes, open wounds and eczema.
Other medicines and Troxevasin
Tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking, have recently taken or might take any other medicines. There are no data on drug interactions.
Troxevasin with food, drink and alcohol
There are no restrictions regarding the application of the product and the intake of food and beverages.
Pregnancy, breastfeeding and fertility
If you are pregnant or breast-feeding, think you may be pregnant or are planning to have a baby, ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before using this medicine. There is no evidence of any adverse effects on the foetus or newborn when using the product.
Driving and using machines
It does not affect the ability to drive or use machines.
Troxevasin contains benzalkonium chloride
Benzalkonium chloride is an irritant and may cause skin reactions.
3. How to use Troxevasin
Always use Troxevasin exactly as described in this leaflet. If you are not sure, ask your doctor or pharmacist.
It is applied externally, twice a day. The gel is rubbed in with light, massaging movements until completely absorbed. If necessary, it can also be applied under a tight or elastic bandage. In more severe cases, combined therapy with Troxevasin capsules is recommended.
If you take more Troxevasin than you should
In case of accidental ingestion of large quantities, it is necessary to apply general measures for removal from the body (agents that induce vomiting) and apply symptomatic treatment.
If you forget to use Troxevasin
If you have missed a dose, apply the product at the time of your next regular dose without increasing the dose.

4. Possible side effects
Like all medicines, this medicine can cause side effects, although not everybody gets them.
After applying Troxevasin gel, skin irritation reactions - redness, itching, skin rashes - are very rarely observed. They pass quickly after discontinuation of treatment.
If any of the side effects gets serious or you notice any other side effects not listed in this leaflet, please tell your doctor or pharmacist.
5. How to store Troxevasin
Keep out of the reach of children.
At temperatures below 25 °C. Do not freeze!
Do not use Troxevasin after the expiry date which is stated on the packaging. The expiry date refers to the last day of that month.
Shelf life after first opening the package: 6 months.
Do not throw away medicines via wastewater or household waste. Ask your pharmacist how to dispose of medicines you no longer use. These measures will help protect the environment.
6. Contents of the pack and other information
The active substance in 1 g of gel is troxerutin 20 mg.
The other ingredients are: carbomer, disodium edetate, benzalkonium chloride, trolamine, purified water.
What Troxevasin looks like and what the pack contains
Yellow or pale brown homogeneous gel mass.
100 g of Troxevasin 2% gel in an aluminum membrane tube, closed with a screw cap. 20 g, 40 g or 100 g of Troxevasin 2% gel in a laminate membrane tube, closed with a screw cap.
One tube in a cardboard box.
