Cholesterol Control helps maintain normal blood cholesterol levels without negatively affecting liver function and overall lipid metabolism. It gives good results in adult patients with hypercholesterolemia. It has a beneficial effect on the function of the cardiovascular and digestive systems.
Cholesterol Control is a dietary supplement focused on maintaining healthy blood lipid levels. It consists of three complementary ingredients – fermented red rice extract, Gugguliride® (extract from the resin of the Sommyhora Mukul tree) and vitamin B3 in the form of nicotinic acid. These ingredients have a proven effect on lowering serum total cholesterol, serum triglycerides, and "bad" (LDL) cholesterol, as well as increasing "good" (HDL) cholesterol.
Function of red rice extract:
Red rice extract is obtained by fermenting rice (GMO-free!) with Monascus purpureus. This product is used in Chinese medicine to strengthen the spleen, improve the function of the digestive system and support the function of the cardiovascular system. Red rice extract is standardized for its content of monacolin K – a phytostatin, which contributes to the maintenance of normal cholesterol concentrations in the blood. The optimal level of cholesterol in the blood is one of the factors influencing the proper functioning of the heart, blood vessels, sex hormones, stress hormones, memory, and concentration. The beneficial effect of red rice extract is mainly due to the presence of an inhibitor of NMG-CoA reductase – an enzyme that controls the amount of cholesterol produced in the liver. It is suggested that the relatively high concentration of unsaturated fatty acids and other natural compounds found in red rice extract could act in synergy with NMG-CoA reductase inhibitors to provide additional health benefits.
Function of Gugulirid®:
The second ingredient in Cholesterol Control is Guggulride®. This is an extract from the resin of the Sommyhora Mukul tree, which has been used in Ayurvedic medicine for over 2,000 years to treat various diseases. Studies suggest that the extract of this resin can reduce elevated lipid levels. The active substances in the resin are the stereoisomers E- and Z-guggulsterone. These are compounds that bind to the bile acid sequestrant receptor – the so-called farnesoid X receptor (FXR), which is an important factor in cholesterol homeostasis. It is believed that the lipid-lowering effects of Guggulir® are due to this effect.
Function of vitamin B3:
The active ingredient in Cholesterol Control is vitamin B3 in the form of nicotinic acid. It participates in the exchange of proteins, fats, amino acids and tissue respiration. Chitinic acid helps to normalize the concentration of lipoproteins in the blood and lower cholesterol levels. It also improves blood microcirculation by dilating capillaries and has a moderate antioxidant effect. Vitamin B3 is also very important for brain function - it improves memory and coordination of movements.
