In Natural Factors, the enzyme is extracted from the traditional Japanese food product natto. Natto does not occur naturally in nature, but is produced through fermentation. A large study conducted in Japan followed more than 92,000 people between the ages of 45 and 74. Participants were followed for five years for their intake of natto and other soy products, and their health status was analyzed after 15 years. Scientists found that consumption of fermented soy foods, and in particular, natto intake, was associated with a significantly lower risk of cardiovascular disease.
