What is "Vitafolate" and what is it used for?
"Vitafolate" contains (6S)-5-Methyltetrahydrofolate (MTHF) , patented under the name Quatrefolic ® , enriched with vitamin B-complex .
Quatrefolic ® does not require metabolism because it is identical to the bioactive formula of folic acid in the body. It is a pure and stable glucosamine salt of Methyltetrahydrofolic acid. (6S)-5-Methyltetrahydrofolate (MTHF) is of fundamental importance in the body's metabolic processes.
- This bioactive folate has up to seven times greater bioavailability than folic acid, which is especially important in people who have a genetic deficiency of folic acid-metabolizing enzymes, as it does not need to be converted to become metabolically active.
- In addition to genetic defects, the transformation of folic acid into the active form of folate can be compromised by physiological stress as well as an inappropriate lifestyle.
- Unlike folic acid, 5-MTHF like Quatrefolic ® can cross the blood-brain barrier, which is especially important for people with cognitive impairments to enhance the synthesis of acetylcholine in the brain - a neurotransmitter associated with memory.
- Healthy diets with adequate intake of 5-MTHF Quatrefolic ® can reduce the risk of having a child with spinal cord defects. Scientific research in recent years has proven the advantages of the reduced form of folate over folic acid. The use of reduced forms of folate (reduced and methylated) is essential for people who cannot assimilate and metabolize folic acid from food and supplements.
Vitamin B1 (Thiamine Mononitrate) - The most preferred form of Vitamin B1. Stable and very well absorbed. Vitamin B1 is necessary for cell growth, carbohydrate and fat metabolism and energy production. It acts as an antioxidant and is involved in the synthesis of myelin.
Vitamin B2 (Riboflavin-5-phosphate) - Bioactive, tissue-ready form of riboflavin. Participates in the formation of erythrocytes, the absorption of energy from proteins and carbohydrates, participates in the body's immune defense. It is necessary for healthy nerve cells, skin and mucous membranes.
Vitamin B3 (Niacinamide) Does not cause flushing (unlike niacin). Important for a healthy cardiovascular system and proper metabolism, especially for maintaining normal cholesterol levels, good memory and concentration. It is a growth factor and is necessary for energy production in cells by participating in acetylation and oxidation.
Vitamin B5 (Calcium D-pantothenate) More stable than pantothenic acid and for this reason is the more effective and preferred form of Vitamin B5. It is a growth factor and is necessary for energy production in cells by participating in acetylation and oxidation. It has a key role in lipolysis and carbohydrate metabolism, the synthesis of neurotransmitters (serotonin, acetylcholine, dopamine), steroid hormones and hemoglobin.
Vitamin B6 (Pyridoxal 5-phosphate (P-5-P)) - The most innovative coenzyme form of vitamin B6. No conversion in the liver is required - this provides higher bioavailability, as well as eliminates possible problems with its metabolism. Stimulates the proper assimilation of fats and proteins. It is also important for red blood cells, as it participates in the formation of glutathione precursors - one of the most important antioxidants in the body. Helps relieve PMS symptoms. It is useful for the visual system.
Vitamin B7 (D-biotin) - The naturally occurring, biologically active form of vitamin B7. It participates in the synthesis of amino acids and fatty acids, as well as in gluconeogenesis. Biotin is an important factor in the repair of DNA molecules, is important for insulin metabolism and the immune response to inflammation.
Vitamin B9 (Quatrefolic ® ) - Participates as a coenzyme in the synthesis of a large number of amino acids and nucleotides, the latter in turn being the basis for the construction of DNA and RNA. It is also necessary for the formation of neurotransmitters and for the depletion of harmful homocysteine.
Vitamin B12 (Methylcobalamin) - Better absorbed, stored and used than other forms of B12. Methylcobalamin and niacinamide support the cardiovascular and nervous systems. Necessary for the synthesis of erythrocytes, for the proper functioning of the nervous system, for DNA synthesis, etc. Vitamin B12 can only be obtained by consuming animal foods.
