ZOYA MSM methyl-sulfonyl-methane powder 125g
ZOYA MSM methyl-sulfonyl-methane powder 125g |
MSM is short for methyl-sulfonyl-methane, an organic sulfur compound that occurs naturally in small amounts in flaxseed, onions, garlic, nuts, and many other foods. Once extracted, MSM is a concentrated food source of sulfur in the form of a crystalline, powdery substance with a white color and a bitter taste. It is used as a food supplement to improve the condition of the skin, hair, nails, joints and bones.
MSM originates in the oceans, where microscopic plankton release sulfur compounds into the seawater, which are quickly converted to DMS, a volatile sulfur compound that returns to the atmosphere. In this temporary, gaseous state, DMS reacts with ozone and ultraviolet sunlight to form DMSO and DMSO2, known as MSM. MSM then falls to the ground with the rain, where it is captured and concentrated in plants. Although MSM is abundant in nature, even the richest natural sources provide MSM in amounts of only a few parts per million.
Commercial extraction of MSM from trees is not possible. MSM is obtained by oxidizing DMSO. This process corresponds to the natural oxidation of DMSO to MSM that occurs in the marine atmosphere and produces MSM, which is chemically identical to that found in nature.
Method of use:
The recommended daily dose is about 2 grams (1/2 teaspoon) per day. If you have not taken MSM before, we recommend that you start with 0.5 g twice a day and gradually increase the amount to 1 g twice a day. Dissolve in warm water or consume with freshly squeezed fruit juice or smoothie to quench the bitter taste. It is recommended to drink more fluids while taking MSM.
