Claritin for allergic rhinitis, hay fever and watery eyes x 10 tablets, Bayer

Claritin contains the active substance loratadine, which belongs to a class of medicines known as antihistamines

Claritin relieves symptoms associated with allergic rhinitis (eg hay fever) such as sneezing, runny or itchy nose and burning or itchy eyes in adults and children over 6 years of age, weighing more than 30 kg.

Claritin can also be used to relieve the symptoms of urticaria (itching, redness and to reduce the number and size of hives). The effects of Claritin last throughout the day and should help you return to your normal daily activities and sleep.

Application:

The recommended dose is:

Adults and children over 6 years of age with a body weight over 30 kg: One tablet once a day with a glass of water, with or without food.

Claritin 10 mg tablets are not suitable for children under 6 years of age or weighing less than 30 kg.

Claritin is not recommended for children under 2 years of age.

Adults and children with severe liver problems: Adults and children with body weight over 30 kg:

One tablet once daily every other day with a glass of water, with or without food. You should talk to your doctor, pharmacist or nurse before taking this medicine.

The active substance is: loratadine. Each tablet contains 10 mg of loratadine.

Precautions:

Talk to your doctor or pharmacist before taking Claritin:

- if you are allergic to loratadine or any of the other ingredients of this medicine;

- if you are about to undergo skin allergy tests. Do not take Claritin 2 days before these tests;

- if you suffer from liver disease.

If you are pregnant or breast-feeding, think you may be pregnant or intend to become pregnant, ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before taking this medicine. As a precautionary measure, it is recommended to avoid the use of Claritin during pregnancy. Do not take Claritin if you are breast-feeding. Loratadine is excreted in breast milk.
