TRACHISAN / Trachisan x 20 lozenges

Trachizan is a medicinal product in the form of lozenges intended for the local treatment of inflammations and infections in the oral cavity and throat. It quickly relieves throat pain and facilitates swallowing in case of sore throat, pharyngitis, tonsillitis and other infections of the oral cavity.

The combination of active substances in Trachizan has antibacterial, antiseptic and analgesic effects, which leads to rapid relief of symptoms.

It does not contain sugar, which makes it gentle on teeth and does not increase the risk of cavities.
Available in a pack of 20 lozenges.

Method of administration and dosage:
Children over 6 years of age: 1 tablet at 2-hour intervals, up to 6 times daily.
Adults: 1 tablet every 2 hours, up to 8 times daily.

With regular use, the complaints usually subside after a few days. To ensure lasting success of the treatment, Trachizan is taken for another 2-3 days after the symptoms subside. In the absence of significant improvement after 10 days of use, consultation with a doctor is necessary.

1. What is Trachizan and what is it used for?
Trachizan is used for the local treatment of inflammations and infections of the oral cavity and throat, such as inflammations of the oral mucosa and gums, periodontitis (inflammation of the gums with progressive denudation and loosening of the teeth), glossitis (inflammation of the tongue), angina, pharyngitis (inflammation of the throat), difficulty swallowing. For the prevention of infections before and after surgical operations in the oral cavity and throat (tooth extraction, surgical treatment of the gums, removal of tonsils).

Inflammations in the oral cavity can be caused by pathogenic and other factors. Symptoms include redness and hypersensitivity of the mucous membranes, accompanied by a burning sensation in the mouth, difficulty swallowing, sore throat, and hoarseness.

The combination of active substances contained in Trachizan tablets has antibacterial, antiseptic and analgesic effects, which significantly improves the condition.

Trachizan tablets do not contain sugar, therefore they do not pose a risk of developing caries.

2. What you need to know before you use Trachizan
Do not use Trachizan:
- if you are allergic to the active substances or any of the other ingredients of this medicine (listed in section 6)
- in case of extensive wounds of the oral mucosa
- for large fresh wounds in the oral cavity
- in children under 6 years of age

Warnings and precautions
In case of fructose intolerance, treatment should only be carried out after consulting a doctor.
Talk to your doctor or pharmacist before using Trachizan.

Other medicines and Trachizan
So far, no adverse drug reactions, such as manifestations of drug interactions, are known.

Tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking, have recently taken or might take any other medicines.

Pregnancy, breastfeeding and fertility
So far, there have been no reports of harmful effects of Trachizan when used during pregnancy and breastfeeding. Due to the lack of data, during pregnancy and breastfeeding the product can only be used after consulting a doctor.

If you are pregnant or breast-feeding, think you may be pregnant or are planning to become pregnant, ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before using this medicine.

Driving and using machines
Trachizan lozenges are assumed to be safe and are unlikely to have an impact on the ability to drive and use machines.

Trachizan contains sorbitol
When taken according to the dosage recommendations, each dose provides 691.5 mg of sorbitol, corresponding to 0.057 bread units. The medicinal product is suitable for diabetics.

Not suitable for people with hereditary fructose intolerance. May cause stomach irritation and diarrhea.
Due to the decreased sensitivity in the nasopharynx, it is possible for oral contents to accidentally enter the respiratory tract, which requires increased caution when used by patients under 12 years of age.

Warning for athletes: When using Trachizan, doping control tests may be positive.

3. How to use Trachizan
Always use this medicine exactly as described in this leaflet or as your doctor or pharmacist has told you. If you are not sure, ask your doctor or pharmacist.

For adults: one tablet is sucked at two-hour intervals, up to 8 times daily;

Children over 6 years old – up to 6 times daily.

With regular use of the product, complaints usually resolve after a few days.

Duration of treatment
To ensure lasting success of the treatment, Trachizan should be taken for another 2-3 days, even after the symptoms have subsided. In the absence of significant improvement after 10 days of use, consultation with a doctor is necessary.

Trachizan should not be used for more than 2 weeks without consulting a doctor.

If you use more Trachizan than you should
Due to the pharmacological properties of the product, toxic effects are not expected even if large quantities of Trachizan are accidentally ingested.

The treatment of choice for ingestion of very large quantities is gastric lavage.

If you forget to use Trachizan
Do not take a double dose to make up for a forgotten dose. Instead, continue taking the medicine as directed.

4. Possible side effects
Like all medicines, this medicine can cause side effects, although not everybody gets them.

In rare cases, allergic reactions to tyrothricin may occur.

Trachizan tablets are generally well tolerated, but the product may cause a decrease in taste sensations and numbness of the tongue, which usually disappear completely within one hour.

The yellow to brownish discoloration of teeth, fillings, dentures and tongue, which occurs in rare cases with prolonged use, can be removed by diligently maintaining oral hygiene. However, the discoloration also disappears spontaneously after stopping use of the product.

5. How to store Trachizan
Keep out of the reach of children.
Store in a dry place, at a temperature below 25ºС.
Do not use this medicine after the expiry date which is stated on the packaging.

Do not throw away any medicines via wastewater or household waste. Ask your pharmacist how to dispose of medicines you no longer use. This will help to protect the environment.

6. Contents of the pack and other information
What Trachizan contains
The active substances are:
- Tyrothricin 0.5 mg
- Chlorhexidine digluconate 1.0 mg
- Lidocaine hydrochloride 1.0 mg

The excipients are: sorbitol, magnesium stearate, peppermint oil.

What Trachizan looks like and contents of the pack
Lozenges.
One pack contains 20 tablets.
