Fungofin cream is a synthetic antifungal product intended for the treatment of skin infections caused by fungi. Fungofin Cream is indicated for the treatment of:
• Superficial fungal infections caused by strains of Trichophyton (T.rubrum and T.mentagrophytes, T. verrucosum, T. violaceum), Microsporum cams and Tinea pedis (athlete's foot), Tinea cruris (fungal infection of the groin) or Tinea corporis ( on the body - ringworm) caused by Epidermophyton floccosum.
• Skin infections (intertrigo) caused by Candida yeast (Candida albicans).
• Pityriasis versicolor (variegated lichen) caused by Pytirospomm orbiculare (Malassezia furfur).
Do not use Fungofin Cream:
- if you are allergic (hypersensitive) to terbinafine hydrochloride or to any of the other ingredients of Fungofin cream (listed in section 6). An allergic reaction can be recognized by the presence of: rash, itching, reddening of the skin or difficulty breathing.
Fungofin Cream is for use on the skin only and should not be used orally, nasally, in the eyes or vaginally.
If irritation or hypersensitivity occurs, Fungofin cream should be discontinued and appropriate treatment initiated. Infected areas should not be covered with tight clothing. Patients with foot infections should wear comfortable and breathable shoes. Shoes and socks should be changed at least once a day. To avoid contamination from the infected area, hands should be washed after each use of Fungofin Cream.
Other drugs and Fungofin cream : There are no data on drug interactions with local use of Fungofin cream.
Please tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking or have recently taken any other medicines, including those obtained without a prescription.
Pregnancy, breast-feeding and fertility :
If you are pregnant or breast-feeding, think you may be pregnant or are planning to become pregnant, ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before using this medicine.
- The drug should not be used during pregnancy, unless prescribed by a doctor.
- Fungofin cream should not be used during breastfeeding, as the active substance passes into breast milk.
- The baby should not be allowed to have contact with treated areas of the skin, including the chest.
Driving and using machines : There is no data that Fungofin Cream affects the ability to drive and use machines.
Important information about some of the ingredients of Fungofin 1% cream :
Fungofin cream contains cetyl alcohol and stearyl alcohol . They can cause local skin reactions (e.g. contact dermatitis).
Application method:
It is important to use Fungofin cream correctly. Carefully follow the instructions. If you are not sure, ask your doctor or pharmacist.
Fungofin cream is applied once or twice a day . The duration of treatment varies according to the indication or the severity of the infection.
Recommended duration of treatment :
- Fungus on the legs, superficial skin mycoses: 1-2 weeks (1-2 times a day);
- Tinea of the sole: 1 week (2 times a day), 2 weeks (1 time a day);
- Cutaneous candidiasis: 1-2 weeks (1-2 times a day);
- Lichen variegated: 2 weeks (1-2 times a day).
When using Fungofin cream, the condition of the skin improves within a few days. Irregular administration or early discontinuation of treatment may increase the risk of re-infection. If there is no improvement after 2 weeks of starting treatment, consult your doctor or pharmacist.
The product is clinically restricted for use in children!
Try to use the cream according to the instructions given in the leaflet. It is important not to miss applications to reduce the risk of the infection returning.
Unwanted reactions:
Like all medicines, Fungofin Cream can cause side effects, although not everybody gets them.
Fungofin cream is well tolerated.
If any of the side effects listed in the leaflet become serious or you notice other side effects not described in the leaflet, please inform your doctor or pharmacist!
Storage:
- Keep out of the reach of children.
- To be stored in the original packaging.
- To be stored below 25°C. Keep away from light and moisture.
Do not use Fungofin cream after the expiry date marked on the carton. The expiration date corresponds to the last day of the specified month.
Shelf life after first opening : 1 month.
