Wakame belongs to the group of edible brown seaweeds. Their color varies from olive green to brown. They have a slightly sweet taste, with a delicate salty aftertaste.

Chemical composition

Wakame seaweed contains: vitamins (A, C, E and K, niacin, pantothenic acid, riboflavin and folic acid), minerals (phosphorus, calcium, iron, magnesium, manganese and copper) and amino acids (tryptophan, threonine, leucine, valine, alanine, glutamic and aspartic acid). It is rich in fiber. It also contains a natural antioxidant that stimulates the formation of proteins and omega-3 fatty acids.
