Quatrefolic is the latest fourth generation folate, consisting of (6S)-5-methyltetrahydrofolate and glucosamine salt.
The liquid form of the product has definite advantages and benefits for patients:
- It is absorbed much faster by the body - between one and four minutes, unlike solid forms, which are metabolized much slower.
- Easy to take and swallow, allowing supplementation in large doses.
- A formula much cleaner than excipients and agents used in capsule forms.
Recent global studies show that more than 50% of people have a problem with the absorption of folic acid, due to a defect in genes encoding the enzyme MTXFR (methyltetrahydrofolate reductase) - the main catalyst for obtaining the final active metabolite of folic acid. This, on the one hand, leads to a deficiency in the body, and on the other hand, to increased levels of unmetabolized products with a possible carcinogenic effect.
INDICATIONS:
- 1. Folic acid deficiency leads to impaired DNA synthesis in the bone marrow and the development of megaloblastic anemia. Quatrefolic rapidly restores plasma folate levels and normal hematopoiesis.
- 2. High levels of homocysteine in the blood are linked to heart disease and stroke. Taking folic acid lowers homocysteine levels by 20% to 30% (in people with plasma concentrations greater than 11 micromol/L.)
- 3. Reduces the harmful effects of antiepileptic drugs (phenobarbital, phenytoin) and cytostatics (methotrexate). Reduces nausea and vomiting as well as drug-induced folate deficiency.
- 4. Recent studies have shown that taking folic acid in higher doses, combined or not with antidepressants, improves symptoms in people with depression and dementia (especially clearly in older age). Quatrefolic freely crosses the blood-brain barrier.
- 5. Taking folic acid in doses above 1 mg daily reduces the risk of ischemic stroke by over 18%.
- 6. The high levels of unmetabolized folic acid observed with older generation folate supplementation suppress NK cell activity and the ability of the immune system to limit the development of colorectal and cervical cancer. Quatrefolic does not lead to the accumulation of unmetabolized products of the folate cycle.
- 1. Quatrefolic as a source of [6S]-5-MethylTHF is extremely suitable for supplying the bioactive form of folic acid before conception, during pregnancy and lactation. Expectant mothers are often unaware that they are pregnant and are not taking supplements. Quatrefolic will increase plasma folate levels the fastest.
- 2. Maintaining high levels of folic acid improves ovarian function and affects idiopathic infertility.
- 3. Folic acid deficiency increases the risk of congenital malformations, spina bifida, miscarriages, and Down syndrome.
- 4. Reduced levels of folic acid in the cerebrospinal fluid are associated with changes in brain function, including depressive states, due to reduced synthesis of neurotransmitters (acetylcholine). Quatrefolic is suitable for postpartum depression.
- 5. Breastfeeding women also need a higher intake of folic acid (on average 130 mcg more). Quatrefolic is more effective than regular folic acid in maintaining higher plasma levels.
- 6. BIONALITY
Quatrefolic is 100 times more water-soluble than the 3rd generation folate – 5 methyltetrahydrofolate calcium salt. This is due to the glucosamine salt.
STABILITY
After reconstitution, Quatrefolic has a neutral pH, which provides higher stability of the molecule, protecting it from hydrolytic degradation. The active substance can be stored at room temperature, unlike the 2-8 0C required for storage of the 3rd generation folate.
