Cocoa paste is obtained by grinding cocoa beans or pieces. The cocoa butter contained in the beans melts during grinding and helps the cocoa beans become a paste. After grinding, the cocoa paste gradually hardens at room temperature.
Cocoa paste is a starting product in the production of cocoa, cocoa butter, cocoa powder and all other cocoa products. Of course, you can enjoy cocoa paste as is – it's just unsweetened chocolate!
If you like to make your own chocolate, it's a good idea to start with cocoa paste, as you won't need a professional grinder like you do with cocoa beans.
