ETRIXENAL is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug with the active ingredient naproxen. Helps with pain in joints, muscles and tendons, most often as a result of trauma; helps to overcome inflammation and swelling, redness and warming of the affected areas.
ETRIXENAL is recommended as a product for short-term use. If within a week there is no positive result from taking it, the therapy should be reconsidered. Available in a convenient pack of 10 tablets.
Composition:
The active substance is: naproxen. Each tablet contains 250 mg of naproxen.
The other ingredients are: lactose monohydrate, corn starch, iron oxide, yellow (E 172), povidone (K-29/32), sodium starch glycolate (Type A) and magnesium stearate.
Unwanted reactions:
Taking ETRIXENAL can cause internal bleeding, expressed in vomiting of blood mass, black stools, discomfort and pain in the stomach, diarrhea, weight loss.
Allergic reactions with skin rashes, blisters, itching, swelling of the limbs, difficulty breathing have been reported. In rare cases, disturbances in liver functions are observed - nausea, fatigue, white excrement, yellowing of the skin, appearance of blisters on the throat and eyes, fever. The medication can provoke heart attacks, strokes.
Digestive disorders are common manifestations - heartburn, nausea and vomiting, diarrhea or constipation, gases, stomach pains. There are also data on visual and auditory disturbances, drowsiness and dizziness, changes in blood count indicators, sleep disorders, difficulty in concentration.
Other symptoms are hair loss, high blood pressure, muscle weakness, pneumonia, blood in the urine, kidney problems. Patients have also reported seizures and convulsions, anemia, photosensitivity.
When should Etrixenal not be used?
Do not take Etrixenal if :
►you are allergic to naproxen or to any of the other ingredients of this medicine (listed in point 6);
► you are allergic to acetylsalicylic acid, other NSAIDs or any painkillers (such as ibuprofen or diclofenac);
►you have or have ever had problems with your stomach or intestines, such as an ulcer or bleeding;
►you have had bleeding or perforation in the stomach while taking NSAIDs;
► you have severe kidney, liver or heart problems;
►you have an increased tendency to bleed (haemorrhagic diathesis);
►You are in the last trimester of pregnancy.
Do not take Etrixenal if any of the above applies to you. If you are not sure, ask your doctor or pharmacist.
Warnings and precautions
The use of medicines such as Etrixenal may be associated with a slightly increased risk of heart attack ("myocardial infarction") or stroke. The risk is more likely with high doses and long-term treatment. Do not exceed (do not take more than) the recommended dose or duration of treatment (7 days).
If you have heart problems, have had a heart attack or think you are at risk of these conditions (for example, you have high blood pressure, diabetes or high cholesterol, or are a smoker), you should discuss your treatment with your doctor or pharmacist.
Talk to your doctor or pharmacist before taking Etrixenal if you have :
►Asthma or allergies (such as hay fever) or have had swelling of the face, lips, eyes or tongue in the past.
►Feeling weak (which may be due to illness) or you are elderly.
►Swellings in the nose (polyps) or you sneeze often, or your nose is runny, blocked or itchy (rhinitis).
►Kidney or liver problems.
►Problems with blood clotting.
►Problems with blood vessels (arteries) in any part of the body.
►Too much fat (lipids) in the blood (hyperlipidaemia).
►An autoimmune disease known as “systemic lupus erythematosus” (SLE, which can cause joint pain, skin rashes, and high fever), colitis or Crohn's disease (a disease that can cause inflammation of the intestines, bowel pain, diarrhea, vomiting and weight loss).
If any of the above apply to you or if you are not sure, ask your doctor or pharmacist before taking Etrixenal.
Children
The use of Etrixenal in children is not recommended.
Special instructions:
Etrixenal contains lactose
If you have been told by your doctor that you have an intolerance to some sugars, contact your doctor before taking this medicinal product.
Keep out of the reach of children.
Do not use this medicine after the expiry date which is stated on the carton and blister after EXP. The expiration date corresponds to the last day of the specified month.
This medicinal product does not require special storage conditions.
Do not dispose of medicines down the drain or in the household waste container. Ask your pharmacist how to dispose of medicines you no longer use. These measures will help protect the environment.
Other medicines and Etrixenal:
Tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking, have recently taken or might take any other medicines. This includes over-the-counter medicines and herbal medicines.
In particular, inform your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking :
►Other pain relievers, such as aspirin, ibuprofen, diclofenac, paracetamol.
► Medicines that prevent the blood from clotting, such as warfarin, heparin or clopidogrel.
►A hydantoin anticonvulsant (for epilepsy), such as phenytoin.
►Drugs from the sulfonamide group, such as hydrochlorothiazide, acetazolamide, indapamide, incl. and sulfonamide antibiotics (to treat infections).
►Sulphonylureas (for the treatment of diabetes), such as glimepiride or glipizide.
►"ACE inhibitors" or other medicines to treat high blood pressure, such as cilazapril, enalapril or propranolol.
►Diuretics (water tablets) (to treat high blood pressure), such as furosemide.
► “Cardiac glycosides” (to treat heart problems), such as digoxin.
►Steroids (anti-inflammation and swelling), such as hydrocortisone, prednisolone or dexamethasone.
►Quinolone antibiotics (to treat infections), such as ciprofloxacin or moxifloxacin.
►Certain medicines to treat mental health problems, e.g. lithium or serotonin reuptake inhibitors (fluoxetine, citalopram).
►Probenecid (for gout).
►Methotrexate (to treat skin problems, arthritis or cancer).
►Cyclosporin or tacrolimus (for skin problems or after an organ transplant).
►Zidovudine (for the treatment of AIDS and HIV infections).
►Mifepristone (to terminate an unwanted pregnancy or to induce labor after fetal death).
If any of the above apply to you or if you are not sure, ask your doctor or pharmacist before taking Etrixenal.
Pregnancy, breast-feeding and fertility:
If you are pregnant or breast-feeding, think you may be pregnant or are planning to become pregnant, ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before using this medicine.
Do not take Etrixenal if you are in the last trimester of pregnancy as it may harm your baby.
Talk to your doctor before taking Etrixenal if you are six months pregnant, think you may be pregnant or plan to become pregnant or are breast-feeding. Your doctor will decide whether you should take Etrixenal.
Etrixenal can make it difficult to get pregnant. You should inform your doctor if you are planning to become pregnant or if you have problems conceiving.
Driving and using machines:
Etrixenal may make you feel tired, sleepy, dizzy, have problems with your vision and balance, feel depressed or have trouble sleeping. Talk to your doctor if any of the above happen to you, do not drive or use tools or machines.
Overdose:
If you have taken more than the required dose of Etrixenal
If you have taken more Etrixenal than you should, contact your doctor or go to hospital immediately. Take the medicine package with you.
If you forget to take Etrixenal
If you miss a dose, skip it. Take the next dose as usual.
Do not take a double dose to make up for a missed dose.
