1. What is Biolektra Magnesium 365 Fortissimum and what is it used for?
Biolectra Magnesium 365 Fortissimum is a product with a mineral substance.
It is used in cases of proven magnesium deficiency, when it is the cause of muscle activity disorders (neuromuscular disorders, cramps / spasms of the lower leg).
2. What should you know before taking Biolectra Magnesium 365 Fortissimum?
Do not take Biolectra Magnesium 365 Fortissimum:
if you are hypersensitive (allergic) to magnesium oxide, magnesium carbonate or any of the other ingredients of Biolectra Magnesium 365 Fortissimum (listed in section 6);
in case of kidney dysfunction;
in disorders of the conduction of excitation of the heart (higher degree AV block), leading to a too slow heartbeat (bradycardia);
in myasthenia gravis (a rare muscle disease);
in chronic urinary tract infections with bacteria that activate uric acid secretion;
in case of severe dehydration (fluid loss);
in metabolic alkalosis (impaired acid-base levels);
in certain urinary stone diseases (calcium-magnesium-ammonium sulfate stones).
Please talk to your doctor or pharmacist before taking Biolectra Magnesium 365 Fortisimum in the following cases:
in hypermagnesemia (magnesium oversaturation);
hyperkalemia (potassium overload).
Other medicines and Biolectra Magnesium 365 Fortissimum
Tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking, have recently taken or might take any other medicines, even those obtained without a prescription.
When taken simultaneously with products containing iron, sodium fluoride or tetracycline, the absorption of iron, sodium fluoride, tetracyclines (a group of antibiotics) and magnesium may be impaired. In these cases, you should observe intervals of 3-4 hours between taking Biolectra Magnesium 365 Fortissimum and taking products containing iron, sodium fluoride, or orally taken tetracyclines.
Concomitant intake of products containing aluminum (e.g. antacids) may increase the absorption of aluminum in the body.
Pregnancy, breastfeeding and fertility
If you are pregnant or breast-feeding, think you may be pregnant or are planning to become pregnant, ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before using this medicine.
There is no reason to worry about taking Biolectra Magnesium 365 Fortissimum during pregnancy and breastfeeding.
Driving and using machines
There is no evidence that Biolektra Magnesium 365 Fortissimum affects the ability to drive and use machines.
Biolectra Magnesium 365 Fortissimum contains sodium and potassium compounds.
One effervescent tablet contains 4.65 mmol (107 mg) of sodium. Please take this into account if you are on a controlled salt diet.
One effervescent tablet contains 2.51 mmol (98 mg) of potassium. Take this into account if you have limited kidney function or are on a controlled potassium diet.
3. How to take Biolectra Magnesium 365 Fortissimum?
Always take Biolectra Magnesium 365 Fortisimum exactly as described in this leaflet or as your doctor or pharmacist has told you. If you are not completely sure, ask your doctor or pharmacist.
The recommended dose is:
Adolescents and adults: 1 effervescent tablet 1-2 times daily.
In cases of severe magnesium deficiency or lack, the doses of Biolectra Magnesium 365 Fortissimum can be increased under medical supervision and while monitoring electrolyte levels.
The dosage of Biolectra Magnesium 365 Fortissimum depends on the degree of magnesium deficiency. The average daily dose is 1-2 effervescent tablets (365 - 730 mg magnesium ions - 15-30 mmol).
Dissolve one effervescent tablet in a glass of drinking water and drink it whole.
The duration of treatment depends on the degree of magnesium deficiency in the body. Long-term high-dose magnesium intake should be carried out under medical supervision.
If you take more Biolectra Magnesium 365 Fortisimum than you should
With normal kidney function, no special precautions need to be taken.
If you forget to take Biolectra Magnesium 365 Fortissimum:
If you miss a dose of the product, do not take a double dose.
If you stop taking Biolectra Magnesium 365 Fortissimum:
Interrupting or prematurely discontinuing the product is safe and has no effect.
If you have any further questions on the use of this medicine, ask your doctor or pharmacist.
4. Possible side effects
Like all medicines, this medicine can cause side effects, although not everybody gets them.
The frequency of adverse reactions is grouped into the following categories:
Very common: more than 1 in 10 people treated;
Common: 1 to 10 in 100;
Uncommon: 1 to 10 in 1,000;
Rare: 1 to 10 in 10,000;
Very rare: less than 1 in 10,000;
Unknown: cannot be estimated based on available data.
Higher dosages may result in soft defecation, which is not dangerous and can be overcome by reducing the dosage.
With high doses and prolonged use of Biolectra Magnesium 365 Fortissimum, symptoms of fatigue may occur. In such a case, based on clinical and chemical research methods, the doctor should decide whether there is an indication for further administration of magnesium.
