PULCET 20mg x 14 tabl
Pulset contains the active substance pantoprazole.
Pharmacotherapeutic group: Proton pump inhibitors
Pharmaceutical form: Gastro-resistant tablet. Light yellow to yellow, oval, biconvex gastro-resistant tablets.
Therapeutic indications: Pulset 20 mg is indicated in adults and adolescents aged 12 years and older with complaints of symptomatic gastroesophageal reflux disease.
Mechanism of action: Pantoprazole is a substituted benzimidazole that inhibits the secretion of hydrochloric acid in the stomach by specific blockade of the proton pump of the parietal cells. Pantoprazole is converted to its active form, cyclic sulfenamide, in the acidic environment of parietal cells, where it inhibits H+, K+, ATPase enzymes, i.e. the final stage of hydrochloric acid production in the stomach. Inhibition is dose-dependent and affects both basal and stimulated acid secretion. In most patients, the elimination of reflux symptoms is achieved in 2 weeks. Pantoprazole reduces the acidity in the stomach and thus increases the level of gastrin in proportion to the reduction in acidity. The increase in gastrin level is reversible. Since pantoprazole binds to enzymes distal to the receptor level, it can inhibit the secretion of hydrochloric acid, regardless of its stimulation by other substances (acetylcholine, histamine, gastrin). The effect is the same whether the active substance is administered orally or intravenously.
Dosage and method of administration: Adults and adolescents aged 12 and over
The recommended dose is 20 mg (one tablet) pantoprazole daily.
Symptomatic gastroesophageal reflux disease
The recommended dose is 20 mg pantoprazole daily. Symptom relief is usually achieved within 2-4 weeks.
When symptoms are relieved, prevention of relapse can be achieved by administering pantoprazole 20 mg once daily as needed. A switch to continuous treatment may be considered if satisfactory symptom control is not achieved with this regimen.
Special populations
Children under 12 years old
Pulset 20 mg should not be used in children under 12 years of age for reasons of safety and efficacy.
Impaired liver function
In patients with severe hepatic insufficiency, the daily dose of pantoprazole of 20 mg should not be exceeded.
