Talcid for heartburn, swelling, gastritis and ulcers x 20 tablets, Bayer
Medicinal product to reduce stomach acidity.
For the complex treatment of diseases in which the binding of gastric acid is necessary: complaints related to increased acidity, gastro-oesophageal reflux (GER), ulcers of the stomach and duodenum, acute and chronic gastritis.
Talcid should not be used to treat children under 12 years of age, as there is insufficient information for this age group.
Application:
Always take this medicine exactly as your doctor or pharmacist has told you. If you are not sure, ask your doctor or pharmacist.
Dosage
For symptomatic treatment of:
- heartburn and complaints related to increased acidity: 500-1000 mg hydrotalcite as needed. The total daily dose of 6000 mg of hydrotalcite should not be exceeded.
- gastro-oesophageal reflux (GER), acute and chronic gastritis: 500-1000 mg hydrotalcite 1-2 hours after meals, at bedtime and when symptomatic complaints appear. The total daily dose of 6000 mg of hydrotalcite should not be exceeded.
- gastric or duodenal ulcer: 1000 mg hydrotalcite 3-4 times a day after meals, at bedtime. The total daily dose of 6000 mg of hydrotalcite should not be exceeded. Treatment should continue for at least 4 weeks after the first resolution of symptoms.
For oral use.
The active substance is: hydrotalcite. Each tablet contains 500 mg of hydrotalcite.

Precautions:
Do not use Talcid:
- if you are allergic to hydrotalcite or any of the other ingredients of this medicine;
- in case of severely damaged kidney function (creatinine clearance <30ml/min), Talcid can only be taken with regular control of the levels of magnesium and aluminum in the serum;
- with a reduced concentration of phosphates in the blood (hypophosphatemia) you can take Talcid only after consulting a doctor;
- if you suffer from myasthenia gravis.
If you are pregnant or breast-feeding, or if you think you may be pregnant or are planning to become pregnant, consult your doctor or pharmacist before using this medicine.
Considering data from pharmacokinetic studies that aluminum levels remain within normal values, in pregnancy Talcid should be used only for a short period of time to reduce the exposure of the baby to aluminum.
