Learn more:
Ticks and mosquitoes are one of the leading global causes of disease and death due to their ability to transmit over 500 viruses, nearly 100 of which cause disease in humans (Lanciotti et al., 2016. Regarding mosquitoes, the WHO says that their ability to transmit and spread disease is responsible for millions of deaths each year, with malaria alone accounting for 438,000 deaths in 2015. Whether you want to spend your warm days undisturbed by biting insects or travel to an exotic destination with a high risk of tropical diseases , you need a reliable and safe repellent.
The most effective natural insect repellent is lemon eucalyptus oil .
First registered by the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) in 2002, it is the first and so far the only natural non-GMO plant-based repellent to be recognized for its effectiveness against Zika and West Nile viruses from the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (US CDC). It is also seen as the only phytoalternative to DEET (hypothecating neurotoxicity concerns), and its effectiveness and potency have been confirmed by a number of studies (Trigg et al., 1996; Barasa et al., 2002; Carroll et al., 2006; Frances et al., 2014). It is published under Regulation (EU) No. 528/2012 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 22 May 2012 concerning the making available on the market and use of biocides (Safe insect repellents, disinfectants and other industrial chemicals (biocides) in the EU).
Oil of lemon eucalyptus is effective against a number of biting insects, including bugs and ticks. It is obtained from the Eucalyptus citriodora tree (also known as Corymbia citriodora) - a renewable resource that grows in many places around the world. The lemon eucalyptus oil in Zed Zed Forte is extracted using a special technology that mimics and accelerates the natural ripening process of eucalyptus leaves, converting the citronella in them into the potent compound p-methane-3,8-diol (PMD).
PMD is usually found in extremely low amounts in natural essential oils – no more than 1% or 2%. Hydration and cyclization technology increases its concentration to a minimum of 64%, making it ten times more potent than lemon eucalyptus essential oil.
Unlike other essential oil-based products, the active ingredient in Zed Zed Forte has undergone the most rigorous testing for safety and efficacy and is registered by the following agencies:
- European Chemicals Agency (ECHA)
- The Swedish Chemicals Agency (KEMI)
- The Dutch Control Board for Plant Protection Products and Biocides (Ctgb)
- US Environmental Protection Agency (US EPA)
- Australian Pesticides and Veterinary Medicines Authority (APVMA)
- Canadian Pest Management Regulatory Agency (PMRA)
