Package: 30 capsules Ginger and mint: documented use in nausea and vomiting of various origins Ginger Ginger (Zingiber officinale) is a traditionally used remedy for indigestion, nausea and vomiting (Giacosa A et al., 2015). Ginger extracts accelerate gastric emptying and stimulate gastric antral contractions. These effects are mainly due to the presence of gingerols (Shaopeng Wang et al., 2014). A systematic review of double-blind, placebo-controlled, randomized trials highlights the potential efficacy of ginger in the prevention and treatment of nausea and vomiting of various origins. Ginger is considered a safe and effective alternative for pregnant women suffering from nausea and vomiting - conclusion of a meta-analysis including 12 randomized clinical trials with 1278 women (Ernst E, Pittler MH. 2000). In a study of 170 women, ginger was found to be as effective as dimenhydrinate in treating nausea and vomiting during pregnancy and had fewer side effects—drowsiness after treatment was greater in the dimenhydrinate group (77,64 %) than in the ginger group (5.88%) (Pongrojpaw D et al., 2007). A randomized double-blind controlled trial evaluated the effects of ginger compared to metoclopramide. Ginger is almost as effective as metoclopramide in reducing nausea and vomiting and may be a good alternative to metoclopramide (Mohammadbeigi R et al., 2011). Studies supporting ginger as a treatment against chemotherapy-induced nausea and vomiting have demonstrated a positive effect (Marx WM et al., 2013). A meta-analysis of 10 observations (2000-2017) showed that at a dose of 1 gram, ginger has significant efficacy in controlling chemotherapy-induced nausea and vomiting, especially in the acute setting (Chang, Wen P. PhD; Peng , Yu X. SN, 2019). The use of ginger is an effective means of reducing postoperative nausea and vomiting. A meta-analysis of 60 studies showed that a 1-gram dose of ginger was more effective than placebo in preventing postoperative nausea and vomiting (N. Chaiyakunapruk et al., 2006). Ginger effectively reduces motion-induced nausea, tachygastric activity, and vasopressin release (Han-Chung Lien et al., 2003). Ginger ameliorates the effects of motion sickness through its aromatic, carminative, and possibly absorptive properties, which are thought to block gastrointestinal responses and subsequent nausea feedback (Han-Chung Lien et al., 2003). Peppermint (Mentha piperita) exerts antiemetic and antispasmodic effects on the gastric mucosa and colon (Atta & Alkofahi, 1998; Göbel et al., 1995, 1996; Juergens et al., 1998; Asao et al., 2003; Hiki et al. ., 2003; Micklefield et al., 2003). Peppermint extract reduces nausea and vomiting in pregnant women (SS Putri et al., 2020). In a study of women with hyperemesis gravidarium (excessive vomiting during pregnancy) who took peppermint leaf extract, half had mild morning sickness, half had moderate morning sickness, and no women had severe morning sickness. degree (N. Masruroh et al., 2020). Analysis shows that peppermint leaves are effective in reducing the frequency of morning sickness in women in early pregnancy (N. Masruroh et al., 2020). Several studies have shown peppermint to be effective in reducing postoperative nausea and vomiting, as well as chemotherapy-induced nausea and colonic spasms during colonoscopy and after colostomy - 30 minutes before chemotherapy, 4 hours after the first capsule, and finally 4 hours later at home (Tayarani-Najaran Z et al., 2013; Leicester RJ, Hunt RH.. 1982). Peppermint extract significantly reduced the severity of nausea and vomiting and improved appetite in breast cancer patients undergoing chemotherapy (H. Jafarimanesh et al., 2020).
