OXYLYC x 20 caps
OXYLIC capsules * 20
Oxilik® is a nutritional supplement with a balanced antioxidant formula based on powerful active ingredients known for their beneficial action in the fight against free radicals.
What are free radicals?
Free radicals are atoms or groups of atoms that have a free electron in the outermost shell of their electron shell. Most often, they are formed when oxygen interacts with certain molecules. Free radicals are very unstable, therefore, after their formation, they instantly react with other chemical compounds or elements. As a result of this reaction, new unstable compounds are formed, which in turn are also highly reactive. Thus begins a chain reaction leading to the formation of new and new highly reactive elements and compounds that can damage the body's cells after reacting with important cellular structures, such as cellular DNA or the cellular membrane. To protect itself from the damaging effects of free radicals, our body has a protective system of antioxidants.
What are antioxidants?
Antioxidants are molecules that safely interact with free radicals without turning them into unstable compounds and interrupting the chain reaction they cause before the body's vital molecules are damaged.
The protective system of antioxidants is made up of enzymes, vitamins and trace elements that function in a close relationship.
Action of the active ingredients:
Vitamin E - a fat-soluble vitamin, the most widespread and the most effective antioxidant in the human body. Its action is particularly effective at high concentrations of oxygen, therefore its levels are highest in the lipid structures exposed to the direct action of oxygen - the erythrocyte membrane, the epithelium of the respiratory system and the skin.
Vitamin C - the most widespread antioxidant in the human body from the group of water-soluble compounds. It acts mainly in the intracellular fluid. Its role in the neutralization of free radicals formed as a result of cigarette smoke and environmental pollution is particularly important. It helps restore other antioxidants in their active form.
Provitamin A (beta-carotene) - a fat-soluble vitamin, an antioxidant that is very effective at low oxygen concentration. It is therefore said to complement the antioxidant action of vitamin E. A portion of provitamin A is converted into vitamin A (retinol), which has no antioxidant activity but plays a key role in a number of vital processes. The role of vitamin A in the formation of eye pigments, as well as in the growth of epithelial cells, the skeleton and reproductive organs, has been proven. Increases the body's resistance to cold and infectious diseases. Damaged epithelial tissues, as a result of vitamin A deficiency, often become subject to infections, which is why vitamin A is called the "anti-infectious" vitamin.
Selenium - a mineral that participates as a component of one of the enzyme systems neutralizing the so-called hydroperoxide free radicals that damage lipid structures in tissues. Selenium and vitamin E mutually enhance their action as antioxidants. Selenium plays an important role in the normal functioning of the pancreas, which is necessary for the absorption of vitamin E. In turn, vitamin E reduces the loss of selenium in the body and maintains it in its active form.
Lycopene - a plant pigment from the group of carotenoids and a powerful antioxidant. Carotenoids give fruits and vegetables their red, orange and yellow colors, e.g. carrots, pepper, tomatoes. Red tomatoes are the richest in lycopene.
The lycopene molecule is structured so that it can bind to free radicals that would otherwise damage cells. Therefore, it protects cells from oxidative damage. It is believed to reduce the risk of developing colon cancer cells. In addition, lycopene can have a positive effect on cholesterol metabolism due to its antioxidant properties. Recent research shows that it can also increase sperm concentration in infertile men.
