Boswellia (Shallaki/Indian Frankincense/Boswellia serrata) has been mentioned as a pain reliever since ancient Sanskrit texts dating back thousands of years. The herb is recommended for the relief of rheumatoid arthritis, osteoporosis, gout, joint pain, muscle pain and back pain.

In China, the Research Department of Nutrition Science at Zhejiang University published a summary of data from 92 different journals that listed effective natural products in maintaining healthy joints (including Boswellia) that play a significant role in maintaining normal joint function.

Function of the herb:

• Arthritis: The extract is effective in reducing joint swelling, pain, stiffness and other symptoms of inflammatory joint disorders, including rheumatoid arthritis and osteoporosis. Boswellia reduces pain in the knees and increases their flexibility.
