DAOSiN® is a food supplement containing the enzyme diamine oxidase (DAO), which breaks down histamine contained in food in the intestines.
What is histamine?
Histamine is a biologically active substance - a mediator belonging to the group of so-called biogenic amines. It is produced by our body, but it is also taken in naturally with many foods. Histamine is involved in many functions in the body. As a neurotransmitter, it is involved in the regulation of sleep-wake rhythm, appetite control, learning ability and memory capacity. But the main action of histamine is as a mediator of inflammatory processes in allergic reactions.
What happens to histamine taken in through food?
The intake of foods containing histamine usually has no consequences, because histamine is rapidly broken down in the gut by the enzyme diamine oxidase (DAO). But when more histamine-rich foods are consumed, the activity of the DAO enzyme may no longer be sufficient and the breakdown of histamine in the gut slows down. In addition, alcohol and certain drugs can significantly limit the function of the DAO enzyme. When the breakdown of histamine slows down, its levels in the body rise and cause reactions such as:

What foods contain histamine?
High in histamine and other biogenic amines are usually foods that have aged or ripened for a long time. There are also many foods that act as histamine-liberators, releasing additional histamine into the gut. Examples of such foods are:
Combined consumption of histamine-rich foods, such as alcohol and cheese, can contribute to a significant increase in histamine levels in the body.
How does DAOSiN® work?
Taking one Daosin® tablet before a meal increases the levels of the DAO enzyme in the gut and, accordingly, the ability to break down histamine through the natural activity of DAO. One Daozin tablet has an activity of 23 kHDU (histamine degrading units).
How to take DAOSiN®
Important: Daozin must be taken before meals (ideally, 15 minutes earlier)! The tablet must have dissolved and the contained DAO enzyme activated before the histamine-containing food reaches the intestine.
Take 1 tablet with a little water 15 minutes before a meal containing histamine. The maximum daily dose is 3 tablets (corresponding to 3 meals containing histamine)
The tablet must be swallowed whole (do not chew) so that the contents can pass through the stomach and reach the intestines intact.
If you take medications regularly, ask your doctor or pharmacist whether their active ingredients may lead to reduced breakdown of histamine from food.
