Lutein
Lutein is a popular carotenoid known for its antioxidant properties and benefits for healthy vision. It has the highest bioavailability (the proportion of the substance entering the bloodstream) of the carotenoids. It is best absorbed in combination with fat. The highest concentration of the substance is found in the eyes (10,000 times more than in the blood). Lutein is the main pigment of the macula - the area of best perception of light stimulation. The macula contains 70% of the total carotenoid in the eye. Lutein takes care of the health of the retina , protecting it from the aggressive effects of ultraviolet rays. It also protects the lens of the eye from the negative effects of the environment. The substance is not synthesized by the human body, so it must be obtained with food or specially synthesized products.

Zeaxanthin

It is synthesized by plants, where it absorbs light and protects them from damage by ultraviolet rays. Zeaxanthin enters the human body through food and accumulates in the eye tissue (the macula). It can also be synthesized in the eye tissue from lutein.
Useful properties of zeaxanthin:
· Protects the macula of the eyes from age-related degeneration (increases the optical density of the macular pigment), reducing the risk of developing age-related blindness;
· Minimizes the destructive effect of free radicals on cell membranes;
· Protects the eyes from the harmful effects of ultraviolet and blue rays (absorbs blue light, acts as internal sunglasses);
· Improves night vision and increases visual acuity overall (promotes better contrast, reduces blind spots, recovers from exposure to bright light).
Fish oil
In addition to valuable vitamin D, fish oil contains vitamin A, which is involved in the production of chondrocytes (cartilage cells). It also contains phosphorus, which is necessary for the normal growth and development of bones and teeth. It supplies the most valuable Omega-3 fatty acids , which the human body does not produce on its own. Polyunsaturated fatty acids are precursors of eicosanoids and cytokines, hormone-like substances that are responsible for transmitting information between immune cells. They control the functioning of the immune system by directing leukocytes to the source of inflammation. They increase the activity of macrophages and T-cells. Thus, they stimulate the production of prostaglandins, which have an anti-inflammatory effect.
