Angal Menthol is a medicine with a local effect in the oral cavity and pharynx in adults and children over 6 years old.
It has an antiseptic effect and a local anesthetic effect that starts from the second minute after application and can have an antiviral effect against some viruses. Angal Menthol is recommended for:
- treatment of the symptoms of a red, inflamed throat, diseases of the pharynx and oral cavity, accompanied by irritation and painful swallowing, such as inflammation of the gums, oral mucosa and aphthae;
- in cases of bacterial infection accompanied by high fever, additional treatment is required;
- it does not contain sugar, which makes it also suitable for diabetics.
Do not take Angal Menthol:
- if you are allergic to the active substances or to any of the excipients of this medicine (listed in point 6); in children under 6 years of age;
- in children with past conditions with muscle cramps (including temperature convulsions), as the product contains levomenthol.
Warnings and precautions:
Talk to your doctor or pharmacist before using Angal Menthol.
Take special care when using chlorhexidine/lidocaine:
- if you have a fever, severe sore throat or difficulty swallowing;
- if you have heart failure;
- if you are taking medicines to treat heart rhythm disorders (arrhythmia);
- if you have impaired liver function;
- if you are prone to hypersensitivity reactions.
Consult your doctor or pharmacist if any of the listed warnings apply or have applied to you, even in the past.
The chlorhexidine/lidocaine combination is not compatible with some substances commonly found in toothpastes. For this reason, there should be at least 30 minutes between using Angal Menthol and brushing your teeth.
Consult your doctor if your symptoms do not improve or worsen after 3-4 days.
Children: Do not use this medicine in children under 6 years of age .
Other medicines and Angal Menthol:
Tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking, have recently taken or might take any other medicines, even those without a prescription.
Do not take Angal Menthol with medicines that suppress the function of the enzyme cholinesterase (neostigmine, distigmine, pyridostigmine) and other medicines to treat myasthenia gravis (an autoimmune disorder that causes your muscles to weaken).
Caution is required when using Angal Menthol if you are taking medication to treat heart rhythm disorders (arrhythmia).
Do not take chlorhexidine/lidocaine with other sore throat medications (antiseptics) due to possible interactions. This is not applicable where the products contain the same ingredients. When using lozenges and spray containing chlorhexidine/lidocaine at the same time, do not exceed the maximum daily dose. The combination of spray and lozenges should not be used in children.
Pregnancy, breast-feeding and fertility:
If you are pregnant or breast-feeding, think you may be pregnant or are planning to become pregnant, ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before using this medicine. If the listed precautions and warnings are observed, Angal Menthol can be used during pregnancy and breastfeeding. Tell your doctor that you are taking this medicine.
Driving and using machines:
No studies have been conducted on the effect of this medicine on the ability to drive and use machines.
Angal Menthol contains sorbitol:
This medicinal product contains sorbitol. If you have been told by your doctor that you have an intolerance to some types of sugar, contact your doctor before using this medicine. Sorbitol may have a mild laxative effect. The energy value of sorbitol is 2.6 kcal/g.
Method of use:
Always take this medicine exactly as described in the leaflet or as your doctor or pharmacist has told you. If you are not sure, ask your doctor or pharmacist.
Adults and children over 12 years of age: 6 to 10 tablets daily . Allow the tablet to dissolve slowly in your mouth.
Children over 6 years of age: 3 to 5 tablets daily. Allow the tablets to dissolve slowly in your mouth.
Angal Menthol should not be used in children under 6 years of age.
Duration of application:
Do not use chlorhexidine/lidocaine for more than 3-4 days and do not use it too often . To be used only to relieve pain and reduce irritation from a sore throat. Consult your doctor if your symptoms do not improve or worsen after 3-4 days.
If you have taken more Angal Menthol than you should:
If you have taken more chlorhexidine/lidocaine than you should, you should seek advice from a doctor or pharmacist.
With proper use, the risk of overdose is very small.
Storage:
Keep out of the reach of children. To be stored below 25°C in the original packaging.
Do not use Angal Menthol after the expiry date, which is stated on the box/blister after the inscription "Expired by:".
Do not dispose of medicines down the drain or in the household waste container. Ask your pharmacist how to dispose of medicines you no longer use. These measures will help protect the environment.
