STREPSILS INTENSIVE orange without sugar x 16 tabl
STREPSILS INTENSIVE orange sugar-free
Strepsils Intensive Orange Sugar Free is a product intended to relieve the symptoms characteristic of a red and painful sore throat such as irritation, pain, difficulty swallowing and swelling. Its active ingredient flurbiprofen is part of the group of non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs), which provide relief by changing the body's response to pain, swelling and high fever. Reduction of pain and inflammation is observed 30 minutes after taking the lozenge and lasts up to 4 hours.
Method of use:
The lowest effective dose should be used for the shortest possible time necessary to control symptoms, a maximum of 3 days. Do not exceed the indicated dosage.
Adults:
- One lozenge every 3-6 hours up to a maximum dose of 5 lozenges in 24 hours.
Paediatric population:
- Children over 12 years: As for adults above.
Children under 12 years old:
- This medicinal product is not indicated for children under 12 years of age.
Elderly patients:
- No dose reduction is necessary in elderly patients.
Liver failure:
- In patients with mild to moderate hepatic impairment, no dose reduction is necessary. In patients with severe hepatic insufficiency, flurbiprofen is contraindicated.
Kidney failure:
- In patients with mild to moderate renal impairment, no dose reduction is necessary. In patients with severe renal insufficiency, flurbiprofen is contraindicated.
Method of application:
- The lozenges are left in the mouth until completely dissolved;
- not to be chewed or swallowed whole;
- taken between meals.
- As with other similar medicinal products, you should change the position of the lozenge in your mouth until it dissolves to avoid the risk of local irritation.
To avoid the risk of choking, Strepsils Intensive Orange Sugar Free should only be used in children who can hold the lozenge in their mouth without supervision until it slowly dissolves.
Do not take Strepsils Intensive Orange Sugar Free if:
- you are allergic (hypersensitive) to flurbiprofen, acetylsalicylic acid or other NSAIDs, or to any of the other ingredients of this medicine listed in section 6.

During the use of Strepsils Intensive Orange Sugar Free:

Other medicines and Strepsils Intensive Orange Sugar Free:
Tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking, have recently taken or might take any other medicines, including medicines obtained without a prescription. In particular:
- other NSAID medicines, including selective cyclooxygenase-2 inhibitors, which relieve pain or inflammation, as this may lead to an increased risk of gastrointestinal bleeding;
- warfarin, acetylsalicylic acid and other anticoagulant and blood-thinning medicines;
- ACE inhibitors, angiotensin II antagonists (medicines for high blood pressure);
- diuretics (which help you get rid of fluids), including potassium-sparing diuretics;
- selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (medicines for depression);
- cardiac glycosides (for heart disease), such as digoxin;
- ciclosporin (to prevent organ rejection after transplantation);
- corticosteroids (to reduce inflammation);
- lithium (a medicine for depression);
- methotrexate (a medicine to treat psoriasis, arthritis or cancer);
- mifepristone (a medicine for terminating pregnancy). NSAID medicines should not be taken for 8-12 days after mifepristone administration, as NSAID medicines may reduce the effect of mifepristone;
- quinolone antibiotics (for bacterial infection) such as ciprofloxacin or levofloxacin;
- tacrolimus (a medicine that suppresses the immune system after organ transplantation);
- zidovudine (a medicine to treat AIDS).
Strepsils Intensive Orange Sugar Free with food, drinks and alcohol:
- Avoid drinking alcohol while using this medicine as it may increase the risk of side effects, particularly bleeding from the stomach or intestines.
Pregnancy, lactation and fertility:
- Do not take this medicine in the last 3 months of pregnancy.
- If you are pregnant in the first six months of pregnancy or breast-feeding, consult your doctor before using this medicine.
Flurbiprofen belongs to a group of medicines (NSAIDs) that may impair a woman's ability to become pregnant. This effect is reversible after stopping the medicine. It is unlikely that irregular use of this medicine will reduce your chances of becoming pregnant, however, if you have problems getting pregnant, you should consult your doctor before using this medicine.
Driving and using machines:
- This medicine does not affect your ability to drive or use machines. However, dizziness or blurred vision may occasionally occur when taking NSAIDs. If these symptoms occur, do not drive or use machines.
