Systane Hydration moisturizing eye drops are a medical device for dry eye therapy. Dry eyes (the so-called dry eye syndrome) is an eye disease that is manifested by a reduced quality and quantity of tears and a feeling of dryness and discomfort in the visual organ.
The main purpose of tears is to maintain the moisture, comfort and health of the eyes. They consist of three layers with mutually complementary action, and the disruption of the balance between them leads to the deterioration of the resistance of the tear film, accelerated evaporation of tears and the formation of dry spots in the eye.
Systane Hydration acts as a "bandage" and helps to regenerate the damaged cells of the eye. The moisturizing drops permanently relieve irritation and burning and restore the damaged tear layer.
The formula of Systane Hydration is based on two polymers - hydroxypropyl guar and hyaluronic acid. This allows the drops to act as a "hydro-bandage" - they adhere tightly to the damaged cells of the corneal epithelium and retain water where it is most needed.
Compared to hyaluronic acid alone, Systane Hydration provides significantly better hydration and lubrication and achieves much longer-lasting protection.
Moisturizing eye drops can be used to lubricate silicone hydrogel and soft contact lenses.
