- Glucosamine sulfate is an aminosaccharide that is produced in the body and participates in the synthesis of compounds from which the skeleton, joints, cartilage, ligaments, tendons and collagen are formed. It is the main building block of chitin and glycosaminoglycans - hyaluronic acid and heparan sulfate, it is also included in the composition of more complex carbohydrates such as glycoproteins, which are a component of connective tissue.
- Chondroitin sulfate is a polysaccharide, the main structural component of cartilage and tendons, which ensures their strength and resistance to loading.
Normal cartilage is made of a dense matrix of chondroitin sulfate, in which are located much finer connective tissue fibers and cells - chondrocytes and chondroblasts. Loss of chondroitin sulfate in cartilage is one of the most important causes of osteoarthritis.
- Methylsulfonylmethane /MSM/ – the compound rich in sulfur, in a form that is easily absorbed by the body. Sulfur is part of the amino acids methionine and cysteine and is necessary for connective tissue.
