Pygeum africanum extract (Pygeum africanum)
The main active components of pygeum africanum extract are fatty acids, phytosterols (beta-sitosterols), pentacyclic triterpenes (ursolic and oleic acid), ferulic acid esters, fat-soluble sterols. They help to inhibit the enzyme 5α-reductase and reduce the levels of dihydrotestosterone (DHT), a hormone whose elevated levels are responsible for an increase in the size of the prostate.
