Prevention of vitamin D deficiency (low levels of vitamin D in the body) in children aged 6 years and older, adolescents and adults at established high risk.
As an adjunct to the specific therapy of osteoporosis (a disease in which bone density is reduced, leading to an increased likelihood of fractures) in adults with vitamin D deficiency or an established high risk of vitamin D deficiency.
The active ingredient cholecalciferol is identical to the cholecalciferol found in the human body. It is present in food and is also produced in the skin after sun exposure. Vitamin D deficiency can occur when your diet or lifestyle does not provide enough vitamin D, or when your body needs more vitamin D.
