As an adjunct to the specific therapy of osteoporosis (a disease in which bone density is reduced, leading to an increased likelihood of fractures) in adults with vitamin D deficiency or an established high risk of vitamin D deficiency.
The active ingredient cholecalciferol is identical to the cholecalciferol found in the human body. It is present in food and is also produced in the skin after sun exposure. Vitamin D deficiency can occur when your diet or lifestyle does not provide enough vitamin D, or when your body needs more vitamin D.
