1. What TANTUM VERDE lozenges are and what they are used for.
TANTUM VERDE are lozenges containing the active substance benzydamine hydrochloride. Benzydamine hydrochloride has pronounced anti-inflammatory and analgesic properties. Based on the rapid penetration and local accumulation in the inflamed tissue, the symptoms subside quickly.
TANTUM VERDE has good local tolerability and leads to targeted therapy of inflammatory symptoms and swallowing complaints.
TANTUM VERDE is used for painful inflammations in the oral cavity and throat » inflammations of the gums, tonsils, inflammations of the mucous membrane of the throat and the larynx. It is especially suitable for reducing complaints of colds.
Does not contain sugar.
2. What you need to know before you take TANTUM VERDE lozenges.
Do not take TANTUM VERDE lozenges:
- if you are allergic (hypersensitive) to benzydamine or to any of the other ingredients of this medicine (listed in point 6);
- if you are allergic to aspirin or other non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs called NSAIDs.
Warnings and precautions:
Increased attention is necessary in patients with bronchial asthma, as the development of bronchospasm is possible in this group of patients.
Other medicines and TANTUM VERDE.
TANTUM VERDE lozenges are not expected to interact with other medicines, however, if you are not sure, consult your doctor or pharmacist in case you are taking other medicines, including those obtained without a prescription.
Pregnancy, lactation and fertility.
If you are pregnant or breast-feeding, think you may be pregnant or are planning to become pregnant, consult your doctor before using this medicine.
He/she will decide whether you can take TANTUM VERDE lozenges.
Driving and using machines.
Topical use of benzydamine in the recommended doses does not affect the ability to drive and use machines.
Important information about some of the ingredients of TANTUM VERDE lozenges.
TANTUM VERDE lozenges contain isomalt (a type of sugar). If your doctor has told you that you have an intolerance to some sugars, consult him before taking this product.
3. How to take TANTUM VERDE lozenges.
Adults and children over 6 years old - one lozenge 3 times a day.
Treatment should not exceed a period of 7 days.
Children between 6-11 years:
The application in children between 6 and 11 years should be under the supervision of an adult.
Children under 6 years:
Due to its medicinal form - lozenges, the use of the medicinal product in children under 6 years of age is not recommended.
If after using Tantum Verde lozenges the expected effect of the treatment does not occur, consult your doctor or pharmacist.
Application method.
Oromucous application. The lozenge should dissolve slowly in the mouth. Do not swallow. Do not chew.
If you have taken more than the required dose of TANTUM VERDE lozenges.
If you have accidentally taken more than the recommended dose of tablets, you should contact your pharmacist, doctor or the nearest hospital. Always carry a package of the medicine with you, regardless of whether there are any tablets left in it or not.
4. Possible side effects.
Like all medicines, TANTUM VERDE lozenges can cause side effects, although not everybody gets them.
Adverse reactions with an unknown frequency:
- Allergic reactions (hypersensitivity);
- Serious allergic reactions (anaphylactic shock), signs of which may include difficulty breathing, chest pain or tightness and/or feeling dizzy/fainting, severe itchy skin or raised lumps/bumps on the skin, swelling of the face, lips, tongue and/or throat, which can be potentially life-threatening.
In isolated cases, a slight burning of the mucous membrane of the oral cavity or dryness of the mouth may occur after using the lozenges.
If this happens to you, drink a glass of water in sips to reduce the effect.
A rarely observed reaction after systemic use of benzydamine is photosensitivity.

If you get any side effects, tell your doctor or pharmacist. This includes all possible side effects not described in this leaflet. 5. How to store TANTUM VERDE lozenges.
Keep out of the reach of children.
To be stored at a temperature below 30°C.
The medicinal product should be stored in the original packaging.
Do not use TANTUM VERDE lozenges after the expiry date marked on the package.
The expiration date expires on the last day of the specified month.
6. Contents of the package and additional information
What does TANTUM VERDE lozenges contain?
- The active substance is benzydamine hydrochloride 3 mg, equivalent to 2.68 mg benzydamine.
- The other ingredients are isomalt (E 953), citric acid monohydrate, orange flavor, honey flavor, levomenthol, acesulfame potassium, quinoline yellow (E 104), sunset yellow (E 110).
What does TANTUM VERDE orange and honey lozenges look like and what does the package contain?
TANTUM VERDE lozenges are yellow-orange tablets, square in shape, each wrapped in paper.
TANTUM VERDE lozenges are available in a box containing 20, 30 or 40 lozenges with an attached patient leaflet.
