1. What is Magnesium Diasporal and what is it used for
Magnesium Diasporal is a mineral preparation and contains the active substance magnesium citrate.
Magnesium Diasporal is used for the treatment and prevention of magnesium deficiency. Signs of severe magnesium deficiency include neurological and muscular symptoms (tremors, muscle spasms, tetany) and changes in the patient's personality.
If after taking this medicine you do not feel better or your condition worsens, you should seek medical attention.
2. What you need to know before taking Magnesium Diasporal
Do not take Magnesium Diasporal:
if you are allergic to magnesium citrate or any of the other ingredients of this medicine (listed in section 6);
if you have severe kidney impairment (glomerular filtration rate < 30 ml/min);
if you have heart conduction disorders that cause a slow heart rate (bradycardia).
Warnings and precautions
Talk to your doctor or pharmacist before taking Magnesium Diasporal.
Children and adolescents
There is a lack of experience with treatment in children and adolescents.
Other medicines and Magnesium Diasporal
Tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking, have recently taken or might take any other medicines.
You should avoid taking other medicines at the same time if possible. Allow 2 to 3 hours between taking Magnesium Diasporal and your other medications to reduce the possibility of interactions.
In the case of taking fluorides and tetracycline, the time interval of 2-3 hours must be strictly observed.
Antibacterial antibiotics (aminoglycoside antibiotics), substances that increase urination (thiazide, furosemide) and substances that block the production of gastric acid (omeprazole, pantoprazole), as well as the active substances cisplatin, cyclosporine A, foscarnet, cetuximab, erlotinib, pentamidine, rapamycin and amphotericin Can cause magnesium deficiency. Ask your doctor if your daily dose of magnesium needs to be adjusted.
Pregnancy, lactation and fertility
If you are pregnant or breast-feeding, think you may be pregnant or are planning to become pregnant, ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before using this medicine.
Magnesium Diasporal can be used during pregnancy and during breastfeeding without worries.
Based on long-term experience, no effects of magnesium citrate on male or female fertility are expected.
Driving and using machines
Magnesium Diasporal does not affect or negligibly affects the ability to drive and operate machinery.
Magnesium Diasporal contains potassium
This medicine contains 4.43 mmol (173.2 mg) potassium per dose. If you have reduced kidney function or if you are on a controlled potassium diet, you should take this information into account.
3. How to take Magnesium Diasporal
Always take this medicine exactly as described in this leaflet or as your doctor or pharmacist has told you. If you are not sure, ask your doctor or pharmacist.
Kidney damage
The use of magnesium should be avoided when renal function is severely limited.
The recommended dose is: 1 sachet daily.
1 sachet of Magnesium Diasporal 400 mg powder for oral solution corresponds to a daily dose of 2,475.2 mg magnesium citrate (magnesium content: 400 mg).
Method of application and route of administration
Dissolve 1 sachet of Magnesium Diasporal in half a glass of water and drink it all.
If you have taken more than the required dose of Magnesium Diasporal
No side effects are expected if your kidneys are functioning properly. Any excess magnesium will be excreted through your kidneys.
If you have taken more of this medicine than prescribed, or if a person has accidentally taken this medicine even though it is not indicated (see section 2), please contact your doctor or pharmacist for a risk assessment and advice.
If you forget to take Magnesium Diasporal
Do not take a double dose to make up for a missed dose.
If you have any further questions related to the use of this medicine, ask your doctor or pharmacist.
4. Possible side effects
Like all medicines, this medicine can cause side effects, although not everybody gets them.
Uncommon (may affect 1 to 10 in 1,000 people):
Soft stools to diarrhea at the beginning of treatment (harmless and usually decreases in frequency with continued treatment).
Very rare (may affect up to 1 in 10,000 people):
Fatigue if Magnesium Diasporal is used for a longer period of time.
If you experience any side effects, you should temporarily stop treatment. Once symptoms improve and/or resolve, you can resume treatment at a reduced dose.

5. How to store Magnesium Dnasporal
Keep out of the reach of children.
Do not use this medicine after the expiry date which is stated on the carton and sachet. The expiration date corresponds to the last day of the specified month.
6. Contents of the package and additional information
What does Magnesium Diaspora contain:
The active substance is: magnesium citrate. One sachet (6.3 g) contains 2475.2 mg of magnesium citrate, corresponding to 400 mg of magnesium.
The other ingredients are: anhydrous citric acid, potassium hydrogen carbonate riboflavin (E101), beetroot red color (E162), orange fruit powder, orange juice flavor, orange flavor, sucrose (E955), maltodextrin.
What Magnesium Diasporal looks like and what the package contains
Pale yellow fine powder for oral solution in a sachet.
Magnesium Diasporal 400 mg powder for oral solution is available in packs containing 20, 50 or 100 sachets of 6.3 g powder each, or in large packs containing 200 sachets of 6.3 g powder (10 packs of 20 sachets or 4 packs of 50 sachets, or 2 packs of 100 sachets not to be sold separately).
Not all types of packaging can be put on sale.
