I. WHAT IS GOOD TO KNOW ABOUT THE IMMUNE SYSTEM?
The main purpose of the immune system is to protect the body from disease-causing bacteria and viruses, as well as to destroy any own cells that have been altered or damaged. When a virus particle or bacteria enters the body, the cells of the immune system recognize it, are activated, then attack and destroy it.
Human immunity is innate and acquired. Even before birth, a person builds a defense system against disease-causing microorganisms, which is called innate immunity. It consists of protective barriers, such as skin and mucous membranes, some immune cells and a number of substances (enzymes, proteins, cytokines, etc.) that inhibit, neutralize or destroy pathogenic microorganisms. The innate immune response is indispensable for the survival of the organism as it is activated within minutes to hours. It cannot distinguish one invader from another and reacts in the same way, so it is called non-specific.
Acquired immunity occurs during individual life and is formed when the immune system comes into contact with pathogenic viruses and bacteria. In this contact, the immune system learns to recognize and neutralize them by producing antibodies that are specific for each individual type of microorganism. Therefore, acquired immunity is also called specific. It reacts more slowly – usually within 4-7 days, but is characterized by immune memory. Thanks to this immune memory, in the next encounter with the same invader, the acquired immunity is dealt with much faster and easier.
In order to function effectively, the immune system requires a huge amount of energy. In the immune response against disease-causing microorganisms, many immune cells are involved, which are activated, divide and synthesize many different molecules. This process is extremely energy intensive. For example, the total amount of energy that the immune system requires in an inactive state is about 1600 kJ per day, while in a mild infection this amount increases by 25% and reaches 2000 kJ per day. This equates to 25-30% of the basal metabolism, i.e. of all the energy needed by the body at rest for the proper functioning of the basic vital functions.
The immune system needs additional energy input and reinforcement when it is permanently weakened due to chronic illness, old age, pregnancy, etc., or is about to be subjected to excessive stress that it will hardly bear, such as during a flu epidemic
II. WHAT IS RESISTA PROTECT®?
Resista Protect® is a combination of 5 clinically proven ingredients that support and strengthen the natural protective function of the immune system.
Each Resista Protect® capsule contains:
• Beta glucan (extract from the fermentation of Saccharomyces cerevisiae) – 250 mg
• Coenzyme Q10 – 100 mg
• Black elder fruit extract (Sambucus nigra) – 30 mg
• Zinc – 5 mg (50% NRVs)*
• Vitamin D3 – 5 µg (200 IU) (100% NRVs)*
*NRVs - Nutritional Reference Values.
Other ingredients: filler - magnesium stearate, vegetable capsule.
Resista Protect® is a food supplement.
The beta glucan in Resista Protect® is a natural polysaccharide complex obtained from the wall of the yeast Saccharomyces cerevisiae. It supports the function of the immune system and supports the body's normal and balanced immune response. Beta glucans from yeast have the strongest immune effect, activating the immune system with a minimal amount of them.
Coenzyme Q10 is involved in the production of energy in cells, which supports the activity of the immune system. It also plays the role of a powerful antioxidant that protects cells from the action of free oxygen and nitrogen radicals. There are a number of conditions that reduce the amount of coenzyme Q10 in our body - stress, malnutrition, aging, etc. Taking coenzyme Q10 increases its amount in the blood plasma and supports the normal energy balance of cells.
The extract of black elderberry (Sambucus nigra) is extremely rich in bioactive substances, such as anthocyanins, phenolic acids, essential oils and polysaccharides. Black elderberry extract is a traditional remedy for supporting the normal function of the immune system. It helps maintain the levels of important proteins involved in immune defense and has an antioxidant effect.
Zinc is a trace element that is involved in over 300 enzyme systems in the human body. Adequate levels of zinc in the body are also of great importance for maintaining the number and functions of immune cells. In case of zinc deficiency, a number of processes involved in the normal immune response from the side of innate and acquired immunity suffer. With age, the absorption of zinc from food decreases, so its additional intake is recommended.
Vitamin D3 is called the "sunshine vitamin" because our body synthesizes it under the influence of ultraviolet rays when exposed to direct sunlight. Vitamin D3 is important for immune protection. When in normal amounts, vitamin D3 supports the natural protective function of the immune system, especially in the respiratory tract and lungs. It is necessary for the cells of both innate and acquired immunity for their normal functioning.
III. WHEN AND HOW IS RESISTA PROTECT® TAKEN?
Resista Protect® is taken to support the immune system before the onset of the winter season or in cases where the immune system needs additional support.
For adults and children over 12 years of age, Resista Protect® is taken 1 capsule twice a day.
For children from 5 to 12 years of age Resista Protect® is taken 1 capsule daily.
IV. WHO SHOULD NOT TAKE RESISTA PROTECT®?
Resista Protect® should not be taken by transplant patients, by patients on immunosuppressive therapy, and if you have ever had an allergic reaction to some of the product's ingredients. In case of signs of an allergic reaction, stop taking the product.
Do not exceed the recommended daily dose. Not to be used as a substitute for a varied diet.
V. WHAT ARE THE SIDE EFFECTS OF RESISTA PROTECT®?
So far, there are no known side effects of the product.
Resista Protect® can be taken both alone and in combination with another product, after consultation with your doctor.
VI. STORAGE
Store Resista Protect® in its original packaging at a temperature of up to 25°C, in a dry place, without direct access to sunlight and out of the reach of small children.
Do not use the product after its expiration date or if the integrity of the package is broken.
