Cicatridina Plus ovules are a vaginal moisturizer with a fast, intense and lasting effect, intended for concomitant treatment and regeneration of various types of vaginal dryness, atrophy and dystrophy of the vaginal mucosa.
Formulated with sweet almond oil and a double dose of hyaluronic acid*, Cicatridina Plus ovules provide abundant 24-hour hydration, well-deserved enjoyment of intimacy and comfort for every woman.
Hyaluronic acid is a mucopolysaccharide found in many body tissues. Thanks to its capacity to retain water, hyaluronic acid forms a layer that intensely and permanently hydrates, accelerating and improving the process of re-epithelialization, regeneration and toning of the vaginal mucosa.

Composition:
Sodium salt of hyaluronic acid 10 mg, sweet almond oil, semi-synthetic glycerides.
Method of use:
Use one Cicatridina Plus ovule per day or as prescribed by the doctor, preferably at night before going to bed to avoid leakage of the product. Do not hold the vaginal ovule between your fingers for too long, as it may melt.
Wash your hands before and after using Cicatridina Plus ovules.
1. Tear the ovule from the blister along the dotted line.
2. Remove the ovule by pulling on the two pre-cut ends of the blister.
3. Hold the ovule with your fingertips.
4. Lie on your back and insert the ovule deep into the vagina.
The duration of use depends on the development of symptoms. If necessary, Cicatridina Plus vaginal ovules can be used for long periods, but in all cases after 30 days of continuous use, treatment should be discontinued for one week.

No worries about vaginal dryness
Vaginal dryness is a condition that typically occurs during menopause and postmenopause, although insufficient vaginal natural lubrication can occur at any age. Statistics show that the problem is widespread, affecting about 50% of menopausal women and about 20% of women between the ages of 18 and 50 in the absence of menopause (Wilhite, 2012). It is often accompanied by burning and vaginal itching, which disrupts the quality of not only intimate relationships, but also life in general.
The main cause of vaginal dryness is a decrease in estrogen levels, which help keep vaginal tissue lubricated and elastic. When estrogen levels decrease, the vaginal walls become thinner, less elastic, and tender (vaginal atrophy).
Similar vaginal symptoms may also be associated with the use of certain medications (antidepressants, antihistamines), certain diseases (diabetes, obesity, autoimmune disorders, allergies) and lifestyle (smoking, use of inappropriate intimate hygiene products, stress).
Many scientific communities recommend non-prescription therapies as the first choice for the management of symptomatic vaginal atrophy and vaginal dryness. Among these, long-lasting moisturizers based on hyaluronic acid, a mucopolysaccharide that is a natural part of the extracellular matrix, stand out with particular potential.
It is well known for its ability to bind large amounts of water, making it one of the most potent humectants known to science. In the vagina, it promotes the differentiation of epithelial cells and contributes to their stronger attachment to each other through so-called desmosomes (Ilhan et al., 2021).
When applied topically, hyaluronic acid enhances the water-retaining properties of the tissue. It ensures the penetration of water and electrolytes into the vascular system and improves the blood supply to the vaginal mucosa. Through this and other mechanisms, hyaluronic acid strengthens the collagen matrix of the vagina and can improve its tone and elasticity (Bachmann & Nevadunsky, 2000).
Unlike lubricants, which require constant application, hyaluronic acid adheres tightly to the vaginal mucosa and remains there for up to 3 days (Pilotto, Gennari, Zanellato, 2017; Taurin et al., 2018; Veiga et al., 2018).
It is no coincidence that hyaluronic acid moisturizers are considered a valuable adjunct to hormonal treatment of vaginal dryness and atrophy or as an alternative for women who cannot use estrogens or simply desire the most effective non-hormonal alternatives (Stute, 2013; Grimaldi et al., 2012).
Studies conducted in recent years with hundreds of women are convincing that vaginal moisturizers with hyaluronic acid are as effective as estrogen preparations in terms of important indicators such as epithelial atrophy, vaginal pH, dyspareunia (painful intercourse), and cell differentiation (Ekin et al., 2010; Grimaldi et al., 2012; Chen et al., 2013, Jokar et al., 2016; Duque-Estrada et al., 2017).
The latest systematic review on the topic, published in 2021, concluded that “hyaluronic acid has an efficacy, safety, and tolerability profile comparable to that of vaginal estrogens for the treatment of vaginal atrophy and is a possible alternative for women who cannot use hormonal treatment” (Dos Santos et al., 2021).
When should the product not be used: Do not use in case of individual hypersensitivity to any of the product components.
Interactions with other products: No interactions with other products have been reported and it is therefore recommended to consult your doctor before using Cicatridina Plus ovules together with other medical devices or medications for vaginal use.
Side effects: The use of all topical products, especially if prolonged, may cause sensitization. If this occurs or you notice other side effects, discontinue use and consult your doctor or pharmacist.
Warnings and precautions: Cicatridina Plus ovules are intended for vaginal use only. Keep out of reach of children. Avoid contact with eyes. Do not swallow. Once inserted into the vagina, the ovule melts, so a whitish, odorless discharge may appear. Since no specific clinical studies have been conducted, consult your doctor before using the device if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.
Shelf life and storage: The expiry date applies to the product in unopened and properly stored packaging. Do not use after the expiry date or if the packaging is opened or damaged. Store Cicatridina Plus ovules away from light and heat, preferably at a temperature between 4°C and 25°C. Avoid temperatures above 30°C.
