BALEV BIO Organic Indian Plantain Flakes 125g

Indian plantain is a shrub-like herb found throughout the world, but most commonly in India, hence its name. Each plant produces up to 15,000 small seeds. Plantain husks are extracted from them. The husks contain glycosides and mucilage, which are a valuable source of water-soluble fiber. Such fibers are not digested or absorbed by the small intestine. Thus, they can work in the intestines like a sponge, absorbing excess water and purifying waste and toxins. Indian plantain is a natural remedy for digestive problems and constipation. Indian plantain seed husks improve digestion and do not cause gas. Their consumption is extremely beneficial for humans and can positively affect cholesterol by helping to reduce it in the body.

Health benefits

✓ The soluble fiber in plantain helps lower cholesterol, relieves symptoms of constipation and diarrhea. Plantain is also used to treat irritable bowel syndrome and hemorrhoids.

✓ Plantain seed husks have been shown to help regulate blood sugar in people with diabetes. In addition to soluble fiber, psyllium also contains a significant amount of insoluble fiber. Semi-soluble fiber exerts both a mechanical and chemical effect on the accumulated waste molecules in the micro-folds on the surface of the small intestine. They competitively bind to various active substances and “export” them out of the body before the latter become toxic agents capable of passing into the tissues of intestinal cells, and from there into the bloodstream.

✓ Studies show that increased fiber intake reduces the risk of colon cancer.

✓ Plantain seed husks are a good addition to the diet of people struggling with high cholesterol, helping to lower cholesterol levels, especially low-density lipoprotein (LDL - the bad cholesterol). This is likely due to blocking the absorption of consumed cholesterol, as well as the reduction of carbohydrates in the food taken with psyllium fiber.

✓ Plantain seed husks also protect against diabetes, as well as alleviate the condition of those already suffering from it. Fiber consumption helps maintain a healthy glycemic balance in the body.

✓ Studies show that psyllium husk has a beneficial effect on lipid and glucose levels and is a perfect addition to the therapy of patients with type 2 diabetes.

✓ Daily consumption of Indian plantain helps type 2 diabetics control their blood sugar levels without side effects. It provides the necessary fiber and most importantly lowers blood sugar levels, respectively the insulin spike, after consuming a generous amount of oatmeal and an added tablespoon of plantain.

✓ Adding high-fiber foods like Indian plantain to your diet helps prevent cardiovascular disease. Specifically, a diet high in water-soluble fiber has a beneficial effect on hypertension, or high blood pressure, which is harmful to the heart. Hypertension affects 30% of the population and is a preventable condition based on a healthy diet. A six-month experiment with plantain intake showed a significant reduction in systolic and diastolic blood pressure in overweight and hypertensive people.

✓ Plantain has been shown to significantly aid in the weight loss process. It can be extremely helpful in achieving and maintaining a healthy weight, as it creates a feeling of satiety after taking it. Adding more fiber to our diet in the form of psyllium husk helps to avoid overeating.

Directions for use: add and mix well 1 tsp. to 250-300ml of water, milk, smoothie or freshly squeezed juice. A sticky mixture similar to jelly is formed. Take 1-2 times a day with plenty of fluids. You can use as an ingredient in various baked goods such as muffins, bread and others.

Warning: Do not take fiber pellets (fiber powder that has come into contact with water) due to their difficulty swallowing and the risk of aspiration into the trachea.
